Curriculum

UIS is expected to develop students with a global mindset by embracing different cultures and backgrounds of others, but not forgetting their own national identity.  With the development of a continuum of international education, it is intended that teachers, students and parents will be able to draw confidently on a recognizable common educational framework, a consistent structure of aims and values and an overarching concept of how to develop international-mindedness.

With more than 900,000 students spread over more than 140 countries, the International Baccalaureate is a holistic education programme focused on providing students a world-class education with a world-class attitude. In addition to academic knowledge, emphasis is placed on developing students’ social, emotional and creative skills as well as fostering a positive attitude toward learning. Students are encouraged to ask questions, reflect critically and develop research skills to learn not only what to learn but how to learn.
As an international school, teaching staff encourages students to establish a global mind-set. This is achieved by not only developing their own national identity, but also learning about and embracing the different cultures and backgrounds of others – skills crucial to life in the 21st century. While all classes are conducted in English, students are required to learn at least one second language and may choose among Mandarin, Spanish or Bahasa Malaysia.

The UCSI International School aims to be the only boarding school in Malaysia to offer the complete International Baccalaureate series. The programme, catering to students from ages 6 to 17, is divided into three parts: the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme.
